Editor Basics

Learn the fundamentals of the BlockForge editor.

Overview

The BlockForge editor is powered by TipTap and provides a modern, distraction-free writing experience with powerful block-based editing.

Getting Started

Starting a New Page

  1. Click "New Page" or use Cmd/Ctrl + N
  2. Give your page a title
  3. Start typing - the editor is ready to use

Basic Editing

  • Click anywhere to place your cursor
  • Type to add content
  • Press Enter to create a new block
  • Press / to open the block menu

Block Menu

Press / anywhere in the editor to see all available blocks:

Text Blocks

  • /h1, /h2, /h3 - Headings
  • /p - Paragraph
  • /bullet - Bullet list
  • /number - Numbered list
  • /quote - Block quote
  • /code - Code block

Rich Content

  • /callout - Callout box
  • /toggle - Collapsible toggle
  • /table - Table

Media

  • /image - Image
  • /video - Video embed
  • /file - File upload

Formatting

Inline Formatting

  • Bold: Cmd/Ctrl + B
  • Italic: Cmd/Ctrl + I
  • Link: Cmd/Ctrl + K
  • Code: Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + C

Block Formatting

  • Align Left: Default
  • Align Center: Use text align controls
  • Align Right: Use text align controls
  • Move up/down: Arrow keys
  • New line: Enter
  • New block above: Cmd/Ctrl + Shift + Enter
  • Delete block: Select block and press Delete

Selection

  • Select text: Click and drag
  • Select word: Double click
  • Select line: Triple click
  • Select all: Cmd/Ctrl + A

Tips

  1. Use the slash menu (/) - It's the fastest way to insert blocks
  2. Learn keyboard shortcuts - They'll speed up your workflow significantly
  3. Drag blocks - You can reorder blocks by dragging them
  4. Nest content - Use toggles and callouts to organize content hierarchically
